Drill / Mounting
A qualified ski technician should always mount bindings.
For mounting bindings it is necessary to use templates suggested by binding manufacturers or the paper template that comes with a new binding.
Majesty recommends using 3.5mm x 9mm drill bit. Ski drill bits have a built-in collar to drill the holes to a specific depth.
The type of binding you have may determine the size of the drill. We strongly advise to make sure the screws are not too long.
Improperly installed bindings can cause injuries. Improper installation may also void the warranty.
Recommended stance
There are 2 points indicated on Majesty skis:
CENTRE (point: 0) - core centre of the ski - preferred by newschool skiers (jibb, park&pipe, switch riding).
CLASSIC (point 6cm back) - traditional feel of length in front of the binding, freeride setting for skis with classic camber.
Determine what type of binding you have, what kind of skiing you do and the primary kind of terrain and snow conditions you will be skiing in.
While the type of binding mostly affects the performance, the place of mounting the binding on the ski also makes a difference.
The further back the binding is mounted, the stiffer the ski feels. The ski will be more stable at high speed, but it gives a larger radius in carving turns and will make the ski hard to manage in short turns.
Because women have a different centre of gravity than men, women's bindings are sometimes mounted slightly closer to the CENTRE, allowing for better control.
Rockered/Hybrid skis (Lumberjack, Superior, Velvet, Rock'n'Rolla) have different riding performance than classic camber skis, which means mounting bindings close to the CENTRE is also beneficial for riding in powder snow.
Majesty recommends mounting the binding 3cm back from the CENTRE point - match up with the line in the middle of your ski boots.
Mounting variations
0 to 2 cm back:
Freestyle setting - jibb, park&pipe, riding switch in the backcountry, better landing balance and freestyle performance.
3 to 4 cm back:
All Mountain setting - easy turns, good handling at higher speed, balanced setting supporting control on different terrain and snow conditions, slight feel of the length in front of the binding.
5 to 6 cm back:
Freeride setting - skiing mostly off-piste, classic freeride performance, traditional feel of the length in front of the binding.
IMPORTANT!
Above points/lines match with the centre line in the middle of your ski boots.
Tips
To make sure you get your bindings set up in the most convenient way, it is a good idea to take all measurements first and then give the exact binding location to the service/shop.
If you are uncertain, the best bet is to go conservative at first and stick to the recommended mount of 3cm back from the CENTRE.
Also, remember there is a difference between the size of the insole and the size of the boot.
